Immemorial Memorial Day 3

Gorgeous weather for the holiday
hot and cool in its bifurcated way
Crown Beach had a crowd
the reason for my remote perspective

I remember my departed family
and friends

Through a worm hole tunnel
to find myself on the other side
 of the looking glass

Webster street
this venerable oasis for Irishman
recently closed it's doors for good

Boulder walls
Don't build them like that anymore
not since the Flintstones were on TV

Boulder holder
Spin rack of vintage
PLAYBOY

Somehow the Beagles
got involved

A wish that they all
could be California girls

Like this little doll
her own mad marine scientist
for the moment

We who are no strangers
to underwater experience

And aware of our scene
fear no sea monsters

Teenagers chill
mesmerized by the motion

Wow
it's like he has a problem

Not me I doffed my boots
to walk along the tide-flooded
walkway with the fishes
and the birds

My day enhanced by sparkling
Chemdawg y'all
Added some cannabis chocolate

The relentless approach
of rotary blades

But why?

A pestiferous helicopter
circled the beach for a half an hour

Planted on a bench
behind a shock of fennel
I shook my fist
up at the nuisance

It was just someone with
authoritarian access

No credible threat existed
and if someone took out
an assault rifle and shot up
the beach-goers
What could the helicopter do?
Shoot back?

 Mr  Big Shot
spoiling the workers holiday
because he can

I want to go under the water

Dive, dive, dive

Before I too
turn into
a curmudgeon fish

I want to observe
and make discoveries
like this little mermaid

Like how a skate

Settles down to the bottom

Like this sweet tyke
I want to pause a moment
in fish-based wonder

It's all open
it's our home
We come from there

I am as elemental
as a red rock lobster
from the primordial stew

Thus
I keep the big picture in mind
and keep  swimming
in a forward direction

With a little
prayer

a little help
from me ancestors
