Another Yesterday

There was brisk business
almost an auction
for these most Asian
of gourds

Random eye movement
along the familiar local sidewalks

He had soul
reaching for it
no mistake

Garishness of fish

I happened to notice
a father and son

Squatting on the sidewalk
to eat a meal
despite open tables nearby

The boy was being
trained as a real Chinaman

I have a Japanese woodcut
from the 19th Century
of this squash

The boy ran past
flashing his traditional
Mohawk mullet

Time to move along
as the pan flute
oscillated
with passion

The body language of children,
the forms  movement takes
are still free

Amber flowed
from a tree in the park
catching the light
like jewels

Leos dig this
needlepoint tapestry
in a branch library
at Trestle Glen

Songs for aging children
I am one

The bark exuded sap
it wasn't a substance
you would want to rub

Mid summer's day
clouds in the water
fish in the sky
