Might be of interest to some so here it is
Trump went after San Francisco when an illegal immigrant was
acquitted after killing a woman walking on a pier with her dad.
Mayor Lee didn't adequately respond to Trump and
former mayor Willie Brown sharply took him to task for it
in his Sunday Chronicle column, writing what he himself
would have replied to Trump.
Lee lost considerable face over his perceived lack of backbone.
As it happened I went to Golden Gate Park that week
where both ex and current mayors were to preside over
the annual lighting of the great Xmas tree.
It was cold and the preliminary entertainment was
sporadic and less than riveting. I grew tired of waiting
for their limos and so I shoved-off along the midway of
an Xmas fair culminating in a psychedelic light show
projected within the glass Conservatory of Flowers
By morbid coincidence it was to be Ed Lee last hurrah
He died the following weekend of a massive heart attack
Not saying it was caused by the humiliation of
Willie's criticism but it was hard to ignore
the coincidence.
Willie wrote it up and said he had trepidation himself
and that Mayor Lee was jovial and cordial
He asked him when they would have their annual Xmas get-together
Mayor Lee presided as well over the loss of San Francisco
as we knew it by accommodating the Tech hegemon
in every way including the horrifying bomb of a skyscraper
the Sales Force building-- way out of proportion
taller by a third than the rest of the high rise skyline.
Just saying.
