Down in the Park

Pardon my redundancy
as I go to the park
and into the garden again

It's down the rabbit hole again
come along with RAY

On my way
to an instinctual
roost

The venerable Palmetum
 awaits with
its offer of solitude

Strange object in the grass
on my way in

Under every blade of grass
every flower
war and peace

Into the sensual garden
the realm of the senses

Subset of the larger garden

These were teeming with bees

Close-up

Rocks and water
make a solid road

Colors compel

Colors astound

My girlfriend is a
Zen rock

Large Bonzai
almost an oxymoron
It is stunted though

Bonzai garden
not today

These leaves are shiny green on top
and bright red on the bottom

Shaggy furry palm trees
like something out of Doctor Suess
Movie magic feeling
in the Palmetum

Another plinth
whose plaque was stolen
This one was in the shape
 of the state of California
Unscrupulous smelters buy them
from barbarian thieves

With my raptor's eye
I spy a fire
on the other side

Lawnmowers leaves big clumps
of mowed grass
 someone set one alight
The flames were fairly high
 but it's just smoldering now

The fire truck had a problem
 getting to the fire
After a long wait for it
 it drove away again
Roadway still incomplete over there

 What happened

asked the neighborhood fishes

Octopi Oakland
Would eat this octopus?
you would if you were
hungry enough

Whole food up the Amazon
where they now have first
and second class citizen shoppers
Bezos has $141 billion

I don't mind the scent
of fresh fish

But I prefer the scent
of fresh flowers

 Same weather pattern every day
since groundhog day
