 After my long walk to the boneyard
on Piedmont Avenue

where I skipped the parade
I landed at 9th in time for the bone show

 

 

 

The Hallowmas Tridium 
Samhain
El Dia de los Muertos
 Worldwide line between the living and the dead
is at its thinnest, its most liminal

 

Altar of remembrance

 

 

 Drummer unites the street scene

 

 

And here they come

 Los Aztecas

  

To smoke us all out

 

 

To string the altars together 

the spiritual front line

 

 

The dancers take seriously their responsibility

 

 

 

Symbols

not simulacra

 

 

 

For the departed 

 

 

 

 

 Let the people express themselves

 

 

 

 

We mean it, man

 

 

Bringing up the tail end 

A Brujo blowing a conch shell

 

 

 

 

 

To reconvene down the end of the street

 

 

 

And the drummers keep up the beat

 

The altar near my daily passageway

 

 

Break it down now

 

They are really down with it by this point

 

 

I'm safely tucked-in

beside the splendid colors 

 

 

For a serious smoke out 

 

 

 

Very agreeable incense smoke stuff
