On the Water at Lakeside Park

A place for recreation and fun

A place for peaceful meditation and prayer

Lake Merritt

A bird sanctuary past this crib

Birds are most profuse in the Fall and Winter

while many are year-round denizens

Whatever

 Pelican

So-called wild geese

let them go back to Canada to defecate everywhere

In a tense urban Gordian knot

It helps to have a handy place to stretch one's horizon

 Wildlife persists despite civilization

Dad and brood feeding the gulls

Head of the Lake

Our Lady of Lourdes

Sanctuary

Friendly wild goose wouldn't mind a snack

Myriad

I attend this parliament from under some arabesque trees

I don't exaggerate do I?

Diving ducks, coots, and grebes

convene over a school of fish

My destiny is to be like a loner swimming ever on

Winter Comes to Lake Merritt

Shadowy trees on a brisk day in the park

Under the lake of clouds

The earth is an Indian thing

Gull patrol at rest yet ever vigilent

Along the banks a sidewinder tree

The Cathedral on hiatus

Exuberant aquatic life

Low sun early

catches the fantasy colors

Miscellaneous Winter Visits

An uplifting walk is always in order

A swim is great too if you are suited for it

The fleeting sunlight of January

O dear grebe you are my spirit animal today

A mild winter day and everyone is out

At first a random gull

Suddenly they bum rush the show

Maybe birds can show the way to avoid extinction

To  grow wings and go back into the cloudscapes again

The Holy Season

Prayer beads under a cloud of unknowing

Lovely grebes swimming in a row

The patterns of instinct

The measure of man

 Mosaic with Last Supper plates
