Thawing Out on Telegraph

Ye olde head shoppe
back with a vengeance
get those kids off
binge drinking

Winter came back
in mid-February
after a desultory showing
last December
we were rainless and
warm all year
until St Valentine's
Colder than normative
almost everyday since

I'm walking
the boulevard
of broken dreams
according to
 Billie Joe Armstrong

Nevertheless
I persist
in dreaming

The Mad Monk
outlives most others,
The competition
goes to pot

Curious old LP sleeves
collect like leaves
On the sparkling sidewalk

All along the Telegraph
he opened many a door,
and he was never known
to make a foolish move

The venerable
poster shop
Represents resistance

Lure of the exotique
Yoga is big
bigger than ever

Making bets...

on Kentucky Derby hats

Prepare for the worst
and then forget all about
Life for the living

The Flaneur
is known to
discretely peep
if an occasion doth arise

Centrifugal force
keeps me
centered

Up to College avenue
striking clouds
over the Eastern hills

The Flaneur makes himself
a home in the world

He plays Hamlet
to Ophelia's Ophelia

He contemplates
remote snow in
the Sahara desert
