September Exhibitions in Berkeley

1.

 Sidewalk art

 What lies beneath

 Push pin pointillism

  American Thanksgiving dinner,
Does this turkey make my ass look fat?

The Cubist cul-de-sac

 Surrealist boudoir

 Another day,
Another dharma

Soon the entire world will be commodified

2.

 Panama-Pacific
International Exposition

 The Jewel City
San Francisco 1915

 Bijoux of nostalgia

 Panama-Pacific
International Exposition
at San Francisco
1915

 Holding up the walls
The cost of life in the bay area,
The Labor of Hercules

World Fairs begin and end in time gone by

The flush of youth,
the shock of the new

 Hard won
The Golden West

 The glittering city of dreams

Take from someone who spends a lot of time on the Bay
Treasure Island is cold and windy,
Lonesome and dark

 .
 Humanist ideals
Writ large

 Civilizations of the bay
Fall and vanish away

Vaguely recollected on the street today

So we wait for the train doors to open
To take us on home...
Yipes stripes!
Oh to have been the breeze,
And those sneaker spats,
Hand off, R. Crumb, she's mine

Oakland Industrial Art and Culture

Accompany the Flaneur on a psychogeographical expedition

We begin around here--Eighth and Wasington
Watch out for a mean gay rooster lurking around here
Frankenfood accident in poultry industry
-- pigeons get found dead

 We suggest our location indirectly

 A gruesome silent movie
Morbidly projected on a wall painted black

Representing the brand of commodified athletics
 Consumed hereabout

A banal verse in a concrete poem

A coveted wall on which to signify

 The last green of spring
Clings to the roots of summer

Phantom limbs,
Monochrome tree

 Kiddy Bitch
Street art gold

Classicism in high voltage industrial design

Dirty old town,
Dirty as we like it to be

Power point presentation
I dig its use of punctuation

The high end of industrial intelligence

 An eruptive landscape
The unstoppable return of the repressed

 Emergent Silver Skull

A sudden train passes at a good clip
A few feet past my elbow,
Sensation addict

 It's a Hitchcock world
Palpable frisson just in being alone here

When Roosevelt came to the land of the hummingbird,
Here comes old slow poke now

Welcome to the Port of Oakland

 The Platonic ideal
Shadowy reflection on a cave of glass

 The actual and its double

We sail toward the double sunset
An imaginary bay rising in the sky

 Screens behind the illusion
Trainwreck culture

 The FAT LADY?!
Is that even considered politically correct anymore?

The new police bruisers
Always enough funding for police gasoline
So they can stop the sky from being so lovely

 ASK / WHY?
What the police see when they hit Washington

 Close to home again,
Transgender wig salon or something

Speak softly and carry a big schtick
That's my new motto

Elmwoody Benvenue

 Homestead Security

The Flaneur walks on very familiar grounds,
Energized on very familiar coffee,
an exquisite blend of girl scout cookies and OG Sour
opens up my loft space

September flowers
 their subtle colors

Beauty moves in the breeze

 Tea rose of late summer

 The old garden gate
singing slowly in the wind

 Old garden chairs
tumble through obsolescence,
Set aside for the bonfire of the wicker man

Glad to see the wooly clouds
on yon hillside
ever thusness so implied

Under the timeless Elmwood trees
