Ghost Nature
Humans like all mammals
are profoundly wired
to feel empathy for baby faces
including those of other species
including the simulacra of toys
a baby step into the uncanny
a baby step into the uncanny
Ghost nature can be comforting
in a deeply ersatz way
Sometimes my images
are upsetting
Please- don't club
the baby seals
Sometimes there's
a dragon in the ointment
Sometimes cuteness can be
kind of gruesome
I recall ever owning
only one plush toy in all my days
It was a tiger and my older
brothers ridiculed my affection for it
until I released it to go
the way of all things
